Fifty-five Alexandria students at 13 different ACPS schools have won awards in the 2017-18 city Reflections arts competition! Several students had winning entries in more than one category, so there are a total of 60 winning entries. Of those, 22 entries (by 19 students) are 1st Place winners and have been advanced to compete in the Northern Virginia PTA District Reflections contest.
Four ACPS students won multiple city awards:
- Saha Irwin, a Jefferson-Houston 2nd-grader, won 1st Place city awards in THREE categories (Literature, Photography, and Visual Arts).
- Eliza Gwin, a George Washington Middle School 6th-grader, won 1st Place awards in TWO categories (Film and Literature).
- Lucy Hunnicutt, a John Adams 3rd-grader, won a 1st Place in Literature and an Honorable Mention in Photography.
- Jack Sibbald, a MacArthur 5th-grader, won 2nd Place in Photography and 3rd Place in Literature.
Mt Vernon Community School had the most entries that won city awards (9). Next were MacArthur (8) and Jefferson-Houston (7).
