What Is Your Story?

So what is Reflections? Reflections is a national PTA arts program. Students created artwork interpreting the 2016-17 national theme: “What Is Your Story?”

We celebrated the participants in the Alexandria PTA Reflections program recently with an awards program and art show opening. The art show will be on display through mid-May. Stop by the Durant Arts Center, 1605 Cameron Street, anytime it’s open, and take a look at all the student art!

Students submit art through the school PTA in categories for Dance, Film, Literature, Music, Photography, and Visual Arts. At each contest level, students compete against others in their age group; only the 1st-place entry advances to the next level: the school contest, the Alexandria City contest, the Northern Virginia District contest, the Virginia State contest, and, finally, the National contest. But more important than the competition is the chance to experiment, create, and have fun.
