Reflections 2018-19: “Heroes Around Me”

The Northern Virginia District winners list is out, and 21 Alexandria entries are on it! Even more exciting, six of our students have had their entries advanced to compete at the state level.

See the Alexandria winners list, with NoVa results added.

Congratulations to all of our participants and award winners, and especially to students whose entries won 1st Place awards and advanced to the Virginia state contest! And thank you to all of the school chairs who worked so hard to complete your school contests and advance your winning entries to the PTA Council level.

Judging at the state level is currently underway, with results due in March. Good luck to everyone!

Reflections is a national PTA arts program. Students create artwork in six different categories (Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts) interpreting a theme, and compete against others in their age group division.

Students submit art through the school PTA. In each category and age division, only the 1st-place entry advances to the next level. Contest levels:

  • Individual school (“Local Unit,” in PTA-speak)
  • Alexandria City (the PTA Council)
  • Northern Virginia (the PTA District)
  • Virginia State PTA
  • National PTA

More important than the competition is the chance to experiment, create, and have fun.
